Kuwait’s energy profile has been employed for this analysis for the period of 1992-2020. The appliances and systems exploited in the study were air-conditioning (A/C) systems and lighting, which are operated by electricity; and cooking appliances which are operated using fuel in the form of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The exergy analysis has been modeled mathematically and used to obtain the overall energy and exergy efficiencies. It has been found that in 2020 the energy and exergy efficiencies were 80.99% and 6.37%, respectively. In Kuwait, 75% of the energy consumption in the residential sector is from air-conditioning (Darwish 2005); therefore, the exergy efficiency has been found to be low due to the losses caused by air-conditioning systems which occur because of either poor thermal insulations or extreme weather conditions. The results attained can be utilized to provide a policy for improving energy consumption in the residential sector as well as to minimize losses for different appliances.
