1.1This specification covers round, aluminum-clad steel core wire with two designations of tensile strengths, AW2 (Normal Strength) and AW3 (High Strength).

1.2The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system are not necessarily exact equivalents; therefore, to ensure conformance with the standard, each system shall be used independently of the other, and values from the two systems shall not be combined.

1.2.1For conductor sizes designated by AWG, the requirements in SI units have been numerically converted from corresponding values stated or derived in inch-pound units. For conductor sizes designated by SI units only, the requirements are stated or derived in SI units.
