This powerpoint presentation outlines the Columbus, Georgia, Water Works employee leadership and development program. Columbus Water Works (CWW) identified the need for employee development as part of its strategic planning process. CWW's loss of knowledge in the next five to ten years could be significant. Leadership positions were at considerable risk due to retirement eligibility of incumbents CWW needed to focus on developing a plan to determine skills and competencies required for key positions and identify leadership development opportunities for current staff. Long-term plans should include implementation of structured cross-training, knowledge transfer, and OJT programs. CWW adopted a program that consisted of four integrated and supporting components designed to address the skill and knowledge development of the entire workforce. The presentation provides an overview of the leadership program components that include: succession planning; supervisory training; employee certification; and, employee development. Includes tables, figures.
