This powerpoint presentation begins by defining NTNC's as non-transient, non-community water supplies that serve at least 25 people for 60 days a year (same 25 people), and are typically schools, daycare, or businesses/factories that have their own source of water. The new Arsenic Rule: requires NTNC's to meet rule; for many, this is first time required to test, use certified operator, etc.; lack of training, management, financial support for treatment; and, many NTNC's in the upper midwest. Region 5 States include Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. They are involve in mapping current compliance status, and data concerning each of the five states in provided. Compliance information includes: states are very different in their handling of these systems; MN has been sampling quarterly for several years, most systems already compliant; IL is in process of sampling all NTNC's once before Dec 2007; varying size of problem IL < 30, MI > 300, IN ~200, OH~150, MN ~ 100; differences due to varying resources and varying structures for primacy in states; state funded sampling before rule vs none; one agency vs two; one department vs two or three; and, huge increase in number of regulated facilities.
