This powerpoint presentation presents the Water Smart Home Program, created by the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA), to encourage promotion and adoption of high-efficiency appliances, plumbing fixtures and landscape designs in new single-family residential construction. The SNWA, in partnership with Southern Nevada Homebuilders Association, offers this program (the first of its kind) to certify for water efficiency, and estimates an annual savings of 75,000 gallons for a home built over 10 years ago. Builder project requirements include: Single-family home or townhouses only; complete neighborhood (sub-division); common and pool areas must also qualify if provided; individually metered by a member agency; and, discharge all wastewater to a public sewer system. Program requirements are provided for outdoor landscape design, irrigation system standards, and swimming pools; indoor requirements are provided for plumbing and fixtures, appliances, and air conditioning systems. Enclosed and marked sewer cleanout, program enhancements for homes completed by January 1, 2009, the contract process, and the inspection process are all presented.
