This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the Winnipeg, Canada lead control program. Project objectives include the following: determine lead levels; determine conditions affecting lead levels; and, review options for remedial action. Previous city research including pilot water stabilization program is presented, along with recommendations, design and construction of chemical feed facility, implementation of lead control program, and operator issues. Future plans include the following: based on consultant recommendations, the 2 ppm orthophosphate feed has become the maintenance dose for permanent control; lead testing at households continues but we hope to eventually replace it with a surrogate system based on the pilot; discussions with the provincial regulators are ongoing; waiting to determine the potential impact of the Health Canada corrosion control document; the feed system will be integrated with the water treatment plant when completed; and, communicating with the customer at yearly large customer seminar, and information is offered on the departmental website. Includes figures.
