This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the study motivation of increased global populations and growing recognition of zoonotic diseases, and Microbial Source Tracking (MST) - a suite of tests used to identify specific sources of fecal contamination. Study objective was to determine whether alternative approaches to the culture-method for R. coprophilus can shorten analysis time from ~ 1 month to within ~ 1 week. Alternatives included the PCR-based method, and modeling to determine statistical relationships between R. coprophilus, fecal contamination, and water quality degradation. Topics presented include: a multiple linear regression model; dependent variables (X) evaluated; construction data set; optimized model; and, challenge data set. Includes tables, figures.
