Engineers have understood the importance of water modeling for years. Although DOS-based water models were superior to hand calculations, they were cumbersome and difficult to interpret. When Windows became the dominant operating system, visual water models were developed. These models benefit the engineer by allowing output data to be displayed in ways that are easy to interpret. This case study is an example of how the visual water model Cybernet vs. 3.1 (now known as WaterCAD) by Haestad Methods, Inc helped Draper Aden Associates solve a pressure problem with the City of Waynesboro. The visual interface of Cybernet allowed the engineer to quickly identify a solution that did not require Waynesboro to spend any money. Several tips and techniques are also discussed that will help readers take advantage of the special features of Cybernet. Includes figures.
