CGA S-10 describes the tendency for some small, spring-loaded pressure relief valves (PRVs) commonly used in piping systems to operate outside their prescribed start-to-discharge pressure range due to cold vulcanization of the seat seal. This publication provides recommendations to mitigate this phenomenon. It does not provide information on specific instances of failure or specific acceptable or unacceptable pressure relief products.

This publication does not apply to pressure relief devices (PRDs) used on cylinders or tubes.
