Sooner or later, every HVAC designer and facility manager comes up against a problem created by moisture and/or excessive humidity in their buildings. Mold on walls or in schools after vacations, mold in hospital operating suites, mold in military barracks or in college dormitories, dripping supply air diffusers in restaurants during the summer, musty odors in basements or odors from HVAC systems, or perhaps just that damp, mugginess first thing in the morning, as the A/C system starts up. All of these symptoms indicate shortcomings in humidity control.
This six-hour seminar consists of two, three-hour modules. Humidity Control I explains how humidity problems can be easily avoided in new designs by simple and effective humidity specifications and use of dedicated outdoor air systems that keep ventilation air dry. Humidity Control II describes classic problems and solutions for existing buildings when there may be little or no budget for different equipment or controls.
The instructor has experience of more than 25 years of guiding new project designs through application engineering and through troubleshooting nasty, contentious, and expensive real-world problems in spite of limited budgets and difficult occupant requirements. Participant discussion will feature prominently in this course. This six hour course is best for those who like to dig in and share experiences with their peers in order to find cost-effective and practical solutions for real-world humidity control.
