The environmental challenges of climate change, such as rising surface temperature and frequent extreme weather conditions, increase the building energy usage and peak demands, extend the number of hours for heat stress, and therefore affect socially and economically disadvantaged communities. In this seminar, speakers present recent efforts in predicting future weather data and extreme heat wave events using the regional climate model WRF and the developed tools based on WRF. Urban energy modeling was employed to evaluate climate change’s impacts on energy and thermal comfort. The influence of climate change on socioeconomic inequality and energy policy is also discussed.
