This Standard specifies requirements and recommendations for 75 Ω broadband coaxial cabling, cables, cords, and connecting hardware to support community antenna television (CATV, commonly referred to as cable television), satellite television, and other applications supported by the telecommunications infrastructure (star topology) defined by ANSI/TIA-568.0 and other topologies specified within this Standard. Included are transmission requirements, mechanical requirements, and requirements related to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) for cabling, cables and connectors; cabling installation and connector termination procedures; and field testing procedures.
