The University of Maryland has pledged to the American Campuses Act on Climate 2009, which aims to render the University campus carbon neutral by 2050. Since buildings are the main source of energy consumption on the university campus, it is crucial to improve their energy efficiency to meet the goals of the 2009 agreement. Through energy audits and modeling, this paper presents the energy analysis and no-cost/low-cost energy conservation measures that can be implemented in two of the state-of-the-art buildings at the University of Maryland. Projected annual savings of more than $100,000 and close to 3,900 MMBtu (~1,140 MWh) are expected for the two buildings. Details of our energy audit procedures and the identified energy conservation measures are described in this paper.
